Travels through India and Central America broadened her horizons and added an appreciationof exoticism to her work, while a two-year study of animation honed her expertise at portrayinga natural sense of movement. She began her professional art career as an illustrator anddesigner in the United States, as an advertising and magazine illustrator. An avid equestrienne, she began sketching and painting horses, which led to success as a painter of both animals andowners, a love that expanded into dogs and their owners, the spirit of equine and canine beautyand widening her scope of collectors.
Rather than continuing to pursue design when the digital craze began, she followed her love ofbeauty to Florence to study the Italian masters. Here, she attended the atelier of the renownedclassical painter Charles Cecil for three years. In the cobbled streets, she learned to see withnew eyes, inspired by the light falling on the Arno and the intricate architecture of the Mediciperiod. The piazzas of the grand Renaissance city entralled her as she followed in the footstepsof her idol, the Tuscan-born John Singer Sargent. Like Sargent, Victoria became known for herability to masterfully yet subtly capture the mood of her subjects on paper and canvas. As aportraitist, she allowed the eyes, those windows to the soul, along with the posture andsettiung of the subjects to tell their own story. That skills remains her forte.
She moved on to Berlin and her German heritage, rekindling her love of the German romantictradition and the mysterious underpinnings of European Symbolism. Adapting to the art scenein cutting-edge Berlin, she combined her modern illustrative skills with the classical styles shehad honend in Florence.
